Rakkan keeps things minimal. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we don’t sell data to advertisers.

What we store on your device

To make the app work, Rakkan stores a few items in your browser’s local storage (not traditional tracking cookies):

Sign-in tokens — to keep you logged in securely between visits.
Your preferences & app state — interface language, theme, notification-sound on/off, which chat was open, dismissed hints, and a draft message outbox so messages written offline aren’t lost.
Offline app files — the app caches itself via a service worker so it opens fast and works as an installed app.

These are essential to providing the service. Clearing your browser storage will sign you out and reset preferences.

Third parties

On the sign-in screen, Google may set cookies if you use Google Sign-In, and reCAPTCHA (also Google) sets cookies needed to tell humans from bots — both governed by Google’s policies. When you open Stripe Checkout to subscribe, Stripe sets its own cookies needed for secure payment and fraud prevention. GIF/sticker thumbnails are loaded from GIPHY when you open that picker, and fonts/icons/animated emoji load from Google and jsDelivr content-delivery networks. None of these are used by us for advertising or tracking.
